These are seriously The Best Blackened Chicken Tenders ever. I was actually shocked when I tasted it. It was a party of flavors in my mouth while the chicken was still so juicy.
I really surprised myself with this recipe. Peter is usually the best at cooking meat but I have to say, I come in right behind at second. He may have some harder competition after I made these though. The girls loved them as well so hey are definitely going to be a weekly dinner idea.
I love how easy they are to make and they re-heat very well for meal prep. I add them to my lunch accompanied by some veggies, potatoes and some homemade sauce on the side.

Here’s what you’ll need
- Mixing Bowls – I love this set from Amazon. They come in all different sizes making it perfect for baking, seasonings, etc.
- Chicken Tenders – You can buy chicken tenderloins already cut, or just purchase boneless skinless breasts and cut them into strips.
- Oil – Avocado oil would be the best to use with this recipe but you can also use olive oil.
- Seasonings – I used a mix of chili powder, onion powder, granulated onion, salt, pepper, basil, dried oregano and thyme.
- Air fryer – This one from Amazon is amazing!
- Meat thermometer – Using a meat thermometer is important because it can help you not under cook or even over cook your chicken.
Air fryer or Oven?
I prefer to cook these in the air fryer but you can also bake them on a sheet pan for 15 to 18 minutes at 400 degrees if you don’t have an air fryer. I highly recommend getting one though – they’re amazing.
Air Fryer Cleaning Trick
I saw this on TikTok but it’s a fast and easy way to clean your air fryer. I add some soap, hot water and “cook” it at 400 degrees for 5 minutes. After it’s done, rinse it again with hot water, dry and its perfectly clean! This has been a life saver.
