These Baked Apple Spice Donuts are just a little piece of heaven. Every bite is warm and full of flavor. They remind me of my Skinny Banana Brown Sugar Muffins I made the other day. If you have a sweet tooth, you definitely have to try one of these. It all depends on if you're an apple or banana lover. I think I love both equally.
Technically these are a "healthier" or "skinny" version of your traditional donut with only 40 calories for each donut! That's amazing. I'm currently patting myself on the back because I think that's a total win for my sweet tooth community. If I have this for breakfast, then I would pair it with a handful of blueberries and strawberries, my veggie scramble and a huge coffee. If I'm really craving something sweet, I can also pair it with my pumpkin protein shake.
Now, if we are talking dessert, I would definitely eat it warm and topped with some ice cream and extra cinnamon! So it can really go either way - a balanced breakfast or a sweet dessert.
The best part about making muffins or donuts is that they're covid friendly! And we are all about keeping everyone safe. If there is a party, school event, brunch, you can have these to grab and go. If you want to be extra safe, you can even individually wrap them!
The secret is using apple sauce and the greek yogurt. This will keep the donuts flavorful, sweet and not dry at all.
Yes, yes, yes, YES. These are amazing for meal prep. I love to meal prep because I’m a grab and go kind of girl so these come in handy. Especially when I’m making my breakfast and lunch along with the girls. Now, my daughter Rae who has a food allergy can’t have them but Sloan loves them. Although, since Rae can’t have these, I will prep her some of my Vegan Chocolate Chip Muffins and use Splenda Monk Fruit since it’s vegan friendly too.
Spray your silicone donut molds with nonstick cooking spray.
Bake in the oven for 15-17 minutes or until toothpick comes out clean.
In a small bowl, mix 2 tablespoons of Monk Fruit Sweetener, 1 teaspoon of cinnamon and stir together.
Melt a teaspoon of butter in the microwave and paste on the donuts for the cinnamon and sugar to stick.
Lastly, dip the donut in your cinnamon sugar mixture and TA-DA, apple spice donuts!
