Simple Low Calorie Margarita

A simple low calorie margarita is seriously my go-to alcoholic drink. I know I can't be the only one who is absolutely obsessed with them. I'm even more thrilled that there is a sugar free and keto option that is delicious, refreshing and super easy to make it home.

It's perfect for a girls night, laying by the pool or paired with my Cauliflower Nachos. It's an all around great drink all year around!

ALCOHOL ON A KETO OR LOW CARB DIET?

Here's the thing about alcohol while on a keto or low-carb diet, will it stall your progress? Will it ruin everything you've worked so hard for? Short answer is no, long answer is that it could. It must be consumed in moderation and you have to take into consideration whether you get “snacky” when you drink. You also have to take major consideration into the mixers that you're mixing with because that's where the sugar is really going to add up.
If you were to order a traditional margarita out at your favorite restaurant, I could guarantee that it's packed with sugar and syrups.

Keep your drinks light when you can but it's also okay to indulge in a sugary drink sometimes. As long as you're tracking your calories and drinking in moderation, you'll be okay.

This recipe can be made over ice or in a blender, whichever you prefer. Personally, I prefer my margaritas on the rocks.

WHAT YOU NEED TO MAKE THIS RECIPE:

  1. Tequila
  2. Lime Juice: I like to use fresh lime juice since this is where most of the flavor comes from.
  3. Keto Simple Syrup: Half a cup of erythritol and one cup of water. Bring the water to a boil and then add in the erythritol. Whisk until well combined.
  4. Ice
  5. Lime to garnish

If you don't want to make the keto simple syrup, you could just add some liquid Stevia.

Salt on the rim is also optional but I think it is absolutely necessary.
