Homemade Apple Pie Jello Shots

These Homemade Apple Pie Jello Shots are perfect for any fall party or get together - even Thanksgiving with the family. The days leading up to the holidays are stressful so my family definitely likes to have fun the day of. 

Happy Friday! I like to post boozy treats right before the weekend because you never know when it can come in handy.

When is the last time you had a jello shot? Mine was just last week when I posted my bloody vodka jello shot syringes. As a matter of fact, I feel like jello shots are definitely making a come back. Or maybe they never left and I am just out of the loop.

Lastly, ever since I’ve been making tons of holiday treats, I’ve realized how creative you can get with them. You can bring them to any event - birthdays, baby showers, Christmas, 4th of July, you name it. Jello shots can definitely make an appearance. 

Homemade Apple Pie Jello Shots

These taste like apple pie in a cup but with a bit of a kick. You can even add a little whipped cream and sprinkle of cinnamon on top. 

Where can I find unflavored gelatin?

You can purchase it on Amazon or your local grocery store. It will be in the baking aisle with the rest of the jello as well. 

What brand of apple cider should I get?

If you happen to go apple picking, they have the best ciders, so I’d snag one of those if you can. If not, your local grocery store will have some in a jug. I would avoid getting the sugar-free or any instant version of apple cider. 

Do I have to use fireball?

You don’t HAVE to but I think it tastes best in these shots. Even if you’re not a huge fan of fireball, I think you will like these. If you do switch up the alcohol, I would use vodka. 

Are each of these a full shot?

Technically, no but I got small containers. If you want them to contain more alcohol, you can get larger containers and double or triple the recipe. 

How to bloom gelatin: 

Ok, this is a very important step that you do not want to skip. To bloom powdered gelatin, place a small amount of the cold liquid in a shallow bowl. Sprinkle the gelatin evenly over the top. It will begin to absorb the water and swell in size. Let the mixture sit for about five minutes before proceeding with the recipe.

Here’s what you’ll need:

• Knox gelatin unflavored (.25oz)
• Apple cider
• Fireball Cinnamon Whiskey
• Small plastic cups

Directions:

1. In a shallow sauce pan, add 1 cup of cold apple cider and top with one envelope of Knox gelatin. Let it bloom for about five minutes.
2. Then, bring the mixture to a simmer and stir until the gelatin is fully dissolved and remove from heat.
3. Add 1 cup of fireball cinnamon whiskey and stir.
4. Grab a large measuring cup with a spout and fill your mini cups. 
5. Let them set in your fridge for 2 to 3 hours.
6. Optional: you can top with a little bit of whip cream and cinnamon before serving or serve as is.
